NationWide I Self Storage Trust, East Pender Update No. 4/2017

We are pleased to provide you with the following update regarding the progress of NationWide Self Storage Trust (“NationWide I”) and its building project at 1223 East Pender Street, Vancouver (the “Pender Property”).

As previously reported, NationWide I has engaged CTA Design Group to provide both architectural and engineering services to the Pender Property.

CTA Design is experienced in designing and engineering multi-level urban self-storage buildings and they have made application and payment to the City of Vancouver for our development permit.

To date, the development application is still under review by city staff, advisory panels and committees and we must comply to the newly enacted and much more detailed and extensive review and approval process. We believe though, that we are now very close to receiving final approval as comments back from the city are minimal. As such, we are hopeful that by the end of January we will have received our Building Permit.

Building Contractor Selection

We are also pleased to report that our project managers at BTY Group have now commenced the tendering process for the awarding of a construction contract for the building. We anticipate getting the tenders in by mid January and hope to award a construction contract prior to the end of January.

We have now awarded a demolition and abatement contract to Matcon Canada. Since 1997, Matcon has been recognized as an innovative and industry leading company for construction services in the Vancouver Metro area, and offers a wide range of professional demolition services to the construction, road building and industrial sectors.

BTY Group has been providing project management services for the Pender Property since the acquisition of the property and will continue to do so throughout the duration of the project. Subject to permit approvals, construction is anticipated to commence in Spring 2018 and will continue until Fall/Winter 2018.
